BGB not concerned over India’s NRC, CAA

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General (DG) Maj Gen Md Shafeenul Islam that they are not concerned over India’s the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). These are the country’s internal affairs.

He came up with the observation at a press briefing in the capital’s BGB headquarters on Thursday noon.

He said some 445 people fled to Bangladesh from India in last two months.

Disclosing one-year statistics, Shafeenul Islam, “The paramilitary force detained 972 people including children and women for trespassing into Bangladesh from neighbouring India last year. They were handed over to different police stations after filing cases. We got confirmed through local representatives that they all are Bangladeshi nationals.”
