Music director Imtiaz Bulbul passes away
Ekushey Padak-winning lyricist, composer and music director Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul passed away in the early hours of Tuesday.
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul, also freedom fighter, breathed his last at his own residence in Dhaka’s Aftabnagar area.
His body will be taken to Central Shaheed Minar for respects by all walks of people at 11am on Wednesday.
Bulbul died of cardiac arrest. He was 63. He was taken to Universal Medical College Hospital around 6:00am and doctors declared him dead. Hospital sources said he had died before family members took him to the hospital.
He was accorded Ekushey, presidential and national film awards for outstanding contribution to the field of music. He was a freedom fighter. He joined the liberation war in 1971 at the age of 15.
He adduced evidence in war crimes case against former Jamaat chief Ghulam Azam. Later, his younger brother Ahmed Miraz was killed and body was recovered from Kuril flyover area. Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul was under life threat. He was confined to home under police protection. But he did not like secluded life and was frustrated.
